Product ID Tags (PITs) can be used in various ways to give users additional ways to categorize and track inventory. PITs can be generated on each individual item received, giving them a unique ID that can be used to track it through the entire system. When entering an order, a particular PIT can be selected for allocation. This is great for shipping an exact instance of an item. PITs can also be put on multiple quantities when receiving giving the entire group of items the same ID. This can be used to relocate certain groups of inventory by PIT #. We use them to tag shipments and shipping methods. When orders come in we have a trigger to tag the order for International shipments and the carrier method. We also tag orders for the US shipments and then can tag them by zip code if we need to get really granular for certain shipments.
